A man from Texas has been arrested by police after his wife's body was found in the trunk of a vehicle he drove to go visit a love interest he met online.
Dequalan Dejuan Harris, 35, and his wife Tamara R. Harris, 33, were in the process of getting a divorce when she was found dead in the trunk of her own car which was driven by her estranged husband. Cedar Hill police disclosed that the couple has a previous non-violent call history to 911.
Tamara, from Cedar Hill, Texas had been reported missing on Friday. Her relatives who had not heard from her or her young child for several days were the ones who notified Cedar Hill police that she was missing. Officers used the OnStar system in her 2015 Chevy Traverse to try and find her. They were able to locate her car in Mansfield, Ohio, about 1,150miles away from Cedar Hill and they notified Mansfield Police.
Mansfield Police found the car parked on the street on Saturday morning while Dequalan was inside one of the homes with another woman. The woman was Demika Rucker, who Dequalan met online. He had driven 17 hours from Texas to Ohio to meet her. Demika said Dequalan arrived her home at about 3.30pm on Friday.
When Dequalan was asked about his wife's whereabouts, he told police he hadn't seen her since Thursday when he picked up her child from her home. Mansfield Police arrested Dequalan after he tried to run away. Before towing Tamara's car, officers found her body in the trunk.
Dequalan is being held on charges including resisting arrest, obstructing official business and abuse of a corpse, which is a fifth-degree felony. He pleaded not-guilty at his video arraignment at Richland County Jail in Ohio Monday. Mansfield Municipal Magistrate Phil Naumoff ordered bond be set at $1million. Naumoff also ordered a personal recognizance bond and electronic monitoring.
The child who was found with Dequalan is in custody of Children's Services in Ohio while other family members are being tracked down with the help of Texas Child Protective Services.
The Mansfield Police Department is investigating Tamara's death with the help of Cedar Hill Police. An autopsy on the dead woman's body will determine the cause of death.

Indonesia's President Joko Widodo has instructed law enforcement officers to shoot and kill drug traffickers to deal with a narcotics emergency facing the country.
"Be firm, especially to foreign drug dealers who enter the country and resist arrest. Shoot them because we indeed are in a narcotics emergency position now," Widodo said in a speech delivered at an event held by one of Indonesia's political parties late on Friday.
The order has now drawn a comparison to that of Philippine's President Rodrigo Duterte, who launched a brutal anti-drug crackdown about a year ago that saw many alleged drug dealers killed.
Reuters reported that the bloody campaign in the Philippines has drawn condemnation from the international community, including the United Nations.
Indonesia also has tough laws against drugs. Widodo has previously been criticized for ordering executions against convicted drug traffickers who were given a death penalty by the court. Rights activists and some governments have called on Indonesia to abolish the death penalty.
Friday's shooting order from Widodo came a week after Indonesian police shot dead a Taiwanese man in a town near the capital Jakarta.
The man, who was part of a group trying to smuggle one tonne of crystal methamphetamine into the country, was killed for resisting arrest, according to police report
After the incident, Indonesian National Police chief Tito Karnavian was quoted by media saying he had ordered officers not to hesitate shooting drug dealers who resist arrest.

Hollywood actor, John Heard, who is popularly known for his role in the Home Alone films, has died at the age of 72.
Heard was found dead on Friday July 21st in his hotel room in Palo Alto, California, according to TMZ. The cause of his death is yet unknown.
Heard was reportedly recovering from back surgery which happened on Wednesday, when he died in the hotel room he was recovering from.
An investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause of his death.
Heard who started his career on stage in the late 1970s and most recently played a character named Andrew in 'Living Among Us', a forthcoming movie about vampires, had appeared in numerous other films and television series, including The Sopranos and Miami Vice. He was also in the movies Beaches, Pelican Brief and the first Sharknado movie among many others.
He was married to Margot Kidder, the actress who played Lois Lane in Superman, for just six days in 1979. He had a son, Jack, with actress Melissa Leo. In a later marriage, Heard had a son, Max, and a daughter, Annika. His son Max died in 2016, aged 22.
His death comes a day after Linkin Park's Chester Bennington committed suicide at a private residence in Los Angeles.

Janeé Harteau, the Minneapolis Police Chief resigned on Friday, about a week after a police officer shot and killed a woman who had called officers for help. Meanwhile no police chief has resigned over the killing of any black man by a police officer. I see
Harteau, who has been chief since 2013, said the killing of Justine Ruszczyk was among several factors that led her to step down.
In her statement, "last Saturday's tragedy, as well as some other recent incidents, have caused me to engage in deep reflection. I've decided I am willing to step aside to let a fresh set of leadership eyes see what more can be done for the MPD to be the very best it can be."
Mayor Betsy Hodges said she asked Harteau to resign because "I've lost confidence in the chief's ability to lead us further and from the many conversations I've had with people around our city, especially this week, it is clear that she has lost the confidence of the people of Minneapolis as well."
The mayor also announced that Assistant Chief Medaria "Rondo" Arradondo will move into Harteau's job. The mayor said she would not resign.
Late Ruszczyk was a 40-yr old Australian native who moved to Minnesota in 2014 and was active in the community as a yoga and meditation instructor. Her wedding was scheduled for next month.
She had called 911 to report a possible assault near her home. Minneapolis police officers Mohamed Noor and Matthew Harrity arrived about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said a squad car entered an alley and Ruszczyk approached the driver's side to talk with the officers but the officer in the passenger seat, Noor, shot and killed the unarmed Ruszczyk.

A newly-installed wax figure of Beyonce was removed from its display at Madame Tussauds’ New York museum following backlash over how the pop star was depicted.
As of Thursday afternoon, the newly-installed wax figure of the mother-of-three was no longer on display. This came after a photo of the statue was shared online and people took to social media to criticize it. Fans accused the museum of whitewashing the statue to make her look like a caucasian.
One Twitter user wrote: "It’s a good thing you’re not talking about Beyoncé cause this white woman is definitely not her."
“Bitch Beyoncé??? This looks more like a Bethany or a Becca or maybe a Britney….,” wrote another Twitter user.
A museum rep said earlier that Beyoncé’s figure looked different from the singer due to “lighting,” which “may distort and misrepresent the color of our wax figures". A staff member at the museum did not give a reason for the figure’s absence on Thursday, saying that it was “off the floor until further notice.”
However, as of this morning, the figure was returned to the floor with some adjustments. The museum disclosed that Bey was back on display as of Friday, adding that they have "adjusted the styling and lighting of her figure."

Fans of Justin Bieber in China have just been hit with a devastating news, after the Beijing's Culture Bureau announced that they have banned the award-winning Canadian pop star from performing in China.
Beijing’s Culture Bureau posted a statement saying the young pop star had "caused discontent among the public."
"Justin Bieber is a gifted singer, but he is also a controversial young foreign idol," the bureau said while responding to a fan's request for a "detailed explanation" about the absence of China dates during Bieber's upcoming world tour.
"As far as we are concerned, he has engaged in a series of bad behaviors, both in his social life and during a previous performance in China, which caused discontent among the public."
"We hope that as Justin Bieber matures, he can continue to improve his own words and actions, and truly become a singer beloved by the public," the statement added.
Bieber has now joined the list of artistes who have been similarly blacklisted in China. British band Oasis and the US group Maroon 5 were hit with similar blocks for voicing support for the Dalai Lama, whom China views as a "dangerous separatist.
